We're happy to announce the release of Xenia Kriisin's first single from her debut album Hymn.
The single FIREARMS premiered Thursday, April 25th. Listen to the Single above , a sneak peak!
The single is released on the Gothenburg-based record label Luxury. It's released digital and on limited vinyl, with a stunning, handmade cover made by Xenia herself.
"The year of 2013 could hardly get a better start.
Because with “Hymn” Xenia has – together with
producer/drummer Johan Hjalmarsson and a choir
with a keen ear – created an independent and
multifaceted work of art.
Its notes may be influenced by psalms, old folk tradition,
jazz, pop and soul, but above all else “Hymn” reflects
the person Xenia; a person with a sharp intellect,
unrestrained enthusiasm, grand visions, big feelings… "

Swedish musician/composer Xenia Kriisin started as a
solo project, but her longing for new challenges and
new sounds has resulted in many different constellations,
with many different musicians through out the years.
Even though Xenia usually writes and performs her music
alone with help of the zither and the bass pedal,
the sound of her new album is a result of the collaboration
between her, drummer/producer Johan Hjalmarsson
and a choir consisting of very talented female
improvisation-vocalists.
Yes, it is pop, but with her background in improvisation,
that too is also a strong foundation.
The joy of not knowing how the next
concert will be, to allow the unwritten parts the time and
space that it needs. This is also reflected in the album.
Melodies and lyrics comes first - then what comes after, that depends.
The album Hymn will be released in September 2013.
